What’s up Jcom-munity!!!...it’s Jaff checking in. And we here at Jcom are coming off a DOPE 2009 Stylus Awards Weekend. It started with hitting up “Get Famous” Friday at Seven Lounge, with music provided by Valid Point Productions very own Stylus Award Nominee DJ James Redi, and hosted by Tee’s and Fellow Stylus Nominee The Kid Famous.
The festivities were capped off Monday night with the actual awards show and after party...And it was CRAZY...We’ll definitely be updating you on some of the behind the scenes stuff that went on. But I want to get straight to business with this one and bring you some hot new music!!!
One standout moment of the night, among many, was the up and coming Duo, A-GAME...The group consisting of twin brothers Chase and Nova have been on the grind, and are getting a lot of attention from hip-hop heads and industry heads alike. After pushing mad units of their debut EP “The World is Yours” Back-Pack style, people recognized and embraced these fresh new voices. The hunger and determination has paid off for A-Game, as they have now aligned themselves with some of the biggest artists and producers in hip-hop today (Boi-1da, T.minus, Tone Mason etc.). Now with their latest mixtape release entitled “Running on Time”, and their SMASH hit “GO HEAD SHAWTY” blazing up the airwaves locally on Flow 93.5 and around the world, the sky’s the limit for A-Game and it doesn’t look like anyone can cut their wings!!!
I hate to use the played out word "SWAG", so I won’t...and until we’ve found a suitable replacement, all I can say is that these guys have a presence. With a combination of their unique sound and catchy lyrics with substantial content, laced over the tightest production and ridiculous beats...these dudes are carving out a spot for themselves. They really represent what’s going on in T.Dot right now, as far as thinking about music on a global scale...not just trying to make it locally, or to get a joint played on the radio...it’s about taking over and showing where the best music is coming from right now. This is a new era we’re living in, where Toronto artists are just as good as, if not better than anyone in any market, NY, LA, CHI-Town or anywhere else in the world for that matter! And I got a feeling that A-Game is gonna be a big part of that movement for years to come.
So now here’s what y’all been waiting for...A-GAME’s new single “GO HEAD SHAWTY”...Not only is it a crazy song but the video looks AMAZING too! Check it out...when I say this is a SMASH I’m not playing with y’all!!! This is THE T.DOT summer banger...this is that drive slow, windows down, head-knock, middle finger to a hater joint!!! And just to give you a little idea of how big this tune really is...picture the 2009 stylus awards after party...some of the biggest names in Canadian music all in one room...and “GO HEAD SHAWTY” comes on...now when you got a dance floor full of your PEERS going CRAZY for your track...you know you’re doing something right!!!
